Why Do Transaction Fees Never Reach 0% on Mighty Networks?

Mighty Networks is one of the few platforms that charges transaction fees on every plan, including its most expensive tier. Per their current public pricing page, fees run from 2% on Launch ($79/mo) to 0.5% on Growth ($354/mo) and Mighty Pro (custom). Even the Mighty Pro tier still charges 0.5% on all revenue. This is a deliberate business model choice — Mighty Networks takes a small cut of your success at every level.

For context: at $20,000/month revenue on the Growth plan, you're paying $354 (plan) + $100 (0.5% fee) = $454/month. On a platform with 0% transaction fees and a $199/month plan, you'd pay $199/month total — saving $255/month or $3,060/year.

Plans and What You Get for Course Capabilities

Mighty Networks rebranded their plan structure in 2025. Course features, including quizzes, cohort courses, drip, and badges and certificates, are on every plan, starting with Launch ($79/month billed annually, 2% transaction fee). Scale is $179/month (1% fee). The Growth plan ($354/month, 0.5% fee) adds advanced automations and priority support. Those are annual-billing prices; month to month, the three plans cost $95, $215, and $425. Mighty Pro is custom-priced for organizations that want their own branded native apps.

On Launch, Scale, and Growth, your members use the Mighty Networks app. Your own branded app, with your name and icon in the app stores, comes only with Mighty Pro, which is custom-priced and needs a sales conversation.

Community features are the consistent bright spot. Five-star reviewers highlight the member experience — events, messaging, subgroups, and the activity feed create engagement that feels organic. One Trustpilot reviewer in February 2025 praised the "14-day challenge" format with live trainings and ongoing support.

The fee structure draws specific criticism. Selling 1,000 items at $40 each — $40,000 in revenue — costs $800 in Mighty Networks transaction fees on the 2% Launch plan, on top of Stripe's 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction. On Scale it is $400 and on Growth $200. Even on the top-tier plans, fees never reach 0%.

Course tools draw pointed criticism. Reviews note no built-in certificates, no real video analytics, and lessons that open in pop-up windows requiring manual expansion rather than a full-page learning experience. One Trustpilot reviewer in April 2025 described course templates as essentially "just blog posts."

A Trustpilot reviewer in May 2025 reported filing support forms and not hearing back in four days. The BBB lists five complaints about billing issues — including one user who enrolled in a "14-day free trial" and was charged $1,069 for an annual plan — all unanswered by Mighty Networks.

The Migration Question

Migrating from Mighty Networks means losing your community history — discussions, member interactions, and engagement data don't transfer. Member emails are exportable on Courses+ plans, but course content requires manual migration. One user who migrated to Circle described being "relieved" by the simpler setup, but noted the transition was disruptive for members.
